Construction Standards

Southern Waterview Development uses USGBC standards to determine its specification and purchasing policies and which help insure consistent sustainable environmental practices.  Such standards rely on USGBC guidelines which state that all products employed in construction shall be used to create the highest indoor environmental quality. 

What does this mean? 

Health is happiness.  As a resident at the Beach House, you will enjoy increased ventilation rates with more outside air, lower moisture intrusion, better lighting, lower levels of airborne contaminants, and strict, ongoing standards and monitors which regulate the emission of volatile organic compounds (potential carcinogens) from adhesives, sealants, coatings composite wood products and carpets in your home.  These innovative benchmarks are regulated by the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the Green Seal Standard for Commercial Adhesives. 

Responsibility.  Know that you are investing in a luxury residence which, unlike other choices, minimizes your impact on the environment.  Smart.

Lower assessments.  Beach House residents’ monthly dues will be substantially lowered due to your building’s ability to generate its own electricity and other technological innovations.  Sustainable building practices also create a longer-lasting structure, delaying (sometimes for years) the need for expensive special assessments and unnecessary increases in monthly dues to effect minor repairs.   Finally, such common area innovations as dual-flush toilets, motion-activated lighting and water taps, and a whole host of other “smart” technology will further reduce residents’ association dues.  Save

Sustainable Construction Conference Center

In the next few months, Southern Waterview will build North Florida’s first conference and training center devoted to environmental stewardship in the construction industry. 

Considered “Phase I” of The Beach House residences, our conference center will provide a meeting and staging area for product review and construction standards.  The Center will include space for a product library and a functioning training space for local industry to convene and discuss the latest trends in green building.
